Program Overview

Music is a reflection of the human experience and has helped many of us heal from the hardships life can bring. This program was created to show the public that music can be used to help individuals heal and build stronger communities. Through this series, we provide Middle TN music artists with a platform to discuss how they use music to maintain their mental health, overcome life's challenges, deal with societal issues, and contribute positivity to all of our communities. How Do We Select the Artists?

To help us select the artists that participate in this program, we created an Artist Curation Committee. We created this committee because we wanted the community to have a voice in how we allocate our funding and to help us get more connected to the different music communities that make up Nashville's local music scene. This committee is comprised of music artists, music industry professionals, and local residents who simply love music.

Why Did We Start Good Neighbors Listen?

Mental health advocacy is something that our nonprofit cares deeply about at its core. Our co-founder, Jason Garriott, lost his father unexpectedly at the age of 12 to suicide. He didn't know how to process the trauma and shut down until discovering the catharsis of playing guitar as a form of talk therapy. Since we know first-hand how beneficial music can be for mental health, we wanted to create a program that helps people navigate their healing journeys.

We believe music is one of the most therapeutic and community building art forms humanity has created to help people in need. Music artists have the amazing ability to discuss difficult, sensitive, and hard to explain concepts in such a beautiful and concise way, which is why we wanted to create a platform for them to share their stories.
